Timeless Tagore

Adapted from Tagore’s Tasher Desh, this inclusive ensemble production uses movement, rhythm, and minimal text to explore freedom, conformity, and self-expression through the talents of performers with disabilities. Drawing from Rabindranath Tagore’s Tasher Desh, this ensemble production offers a fresh, inclusive interpretation of the classic allegory of freedom and conformity. Performed by individuals with disabilities aged 14 and above, the story follows a restless prince who journeys beyond his palace into a world where people live like playing cards, governed by an unyielding hierarchy and rules that suppress spontaneity and self-expression. The prince’s arrival, marked by impulsive energy and music, begins to disrupt this rigid order, inviting curiosity, movement, and rediscovery of choice. Dramaturgy Sharmistha Saha
